Cosmos walktrough

This may or may not be helpful, it's really just showing how I go about doing my drawings. 

1. I always start out by drawing the basic outline of the body. I don't use lines anymore, but if I need to define certain areas and differentiate things, I use the shade color for the skin to make those lines which will be blended out later. 

2. Just continue shading. Make sure you have a defined light source!

3. started working on the face. I always get a reference for more "realistic" faces like this, but I still make it my own.

4. I added other details like eyelashes, pores, blush and highlights to the face (and the rest of the body)

5. Again, I don't use lines, but I made the outline of the dress to shade later.

6. I gave the dress some basic shading and finished up coloring the skin that was around the dress.

7. Dress shading! I won't explain how I did that here, but I will say that I used the "fringe" tool on sai to get the darker outer edges on the shading. It's good if you're going to shade things that are very light on color. 

8. Base shading socks.

9. I added in some darker shades to the socks to give them a more life-like feel.

10. I started the hair with some strokes with the marker tool, using a brush that was soft and fuzzy.

11. Go back in with a smaller, sharper marker that is a lighter color and more vibrant.

12. Add some fly-aways in an even more vibrant tone!

13. I just added some stars and a blue highlight for fun. Done in photoshop with a custom star brush I made. 

14. I added some accessories like the bracelets and made a gradient for the sky on the bottom layer (and when I flattened the image to copy it onto the walkthrough, my computer restarted and I lost all my layers, but hey).

15. Used that star brush again and added in some trees, cause why not?
